Risk of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia after CoolSclupting?

Question

I had cool sculpting once 5 years ago with good results and considering doing it agin. My question is can I still develop paradoxical adipose hyperplasia? Is the risk the same or lower considering I did once with no issue?

Hello and thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we do not know which patients will develop PAH as there is no research that has shown what may predispose an individual to this response. It is reassuring that you tolerated the treatment well and with good results so the risk of PAH would exist, however it is extremely rare and occurring less than 1% of the time. Hope this helps! PAH can occur in almost any individual and at any time and after any treatment. The only good thing is that we know that it occurs more frequently in male patients. I hope this helps so good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
