Hi, I had an open rhinoplasty 10 months ago and I am aware that swelling in the top takes longer to subside however I am unsure how much this will alter the shape of my nose. I am unhappy with the front profile as it has completely changed my face. My nose before was thin and pointy it now looks bulborous. During surgery I had a bump removed, my nostrils made smaller and the tip slightly lifted. Could this be scar tissue that has formed?
Answer: Bulbous tip 10 months after rhinoplasty Thank-you for your question. Tip is the last part of the nose from where the swelling goes down. It is true that your tip looks bulbous but I would request you to be patient for another couple of months till at least one year has passed from your procedure. One indication that most of the swelling has gone is that the swelling does not change from the morning till night and gently compressing the nose does not improve the swelling. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon who should be able to help you. All the best!

Answer: Unhappy with rhinoplasty results? Here's what you need to know Hello, and thank you for your question. It isn't until a full year after the procedure that your rhinoplasty results are truly definitive. Your nose may still have some swelling, and it will still change. Patience is key for now. But if after a full year you are still unhappy with your results, you may consider revision rhinoplasty. Revision rhinoplasty is an even more complex procedure than primary rhinoplasty. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a reputable board-certified facial plastic surgeon, particularly one with a strong rhinoplasty portfolio. Such experts will have a deep understanding of the aesthetic and functional elements of the nose while having an aesthetic eye for facial symmetry and balance. Your surgeon will re-evaluate your nose, recommend the best approach to address your concerns and goals, and help ensure the best possible outcome.

Answer: Need more time You are still recovering from rhinoplasty surgery, and as you correctly noted, the swelling can remain for an extended period. There are many reasons to have a more bulbous tip, and scar tissue may be an explanation. I would give it at least one year from surgery prior to making any evaluation of the final aesthetic outcome of your nose. I would bring up your concerns with your plastic surgeon because only he/she would intimately know your anatomy and what techniques were utilized during surgery.

Answer: Rhinoplasty The only thing I can imagine is that a lot of cartilage grafting was done which made your nose bulkier. Wait a while longer to see if swelling goes down. If not you may need a revision
