Is it normal to use multiple overcorrection aligners to straighten teeth?

I had a two year treatment plan with Invisalign. After 6 months we were almost there but then embarked on 18 months of refinements. In the refinement phase, every 6 months we would ‘finish’ treatment and go through 3 weeks of overcorrection aligners. Each time my bite was still uneven, so we would do another round of refinements. After finishing treatment overcorrection aligners were used again to fix a twisted tooth. Treatment now finished but bite still uneven with TMJ issues. Is this normal?
