What is the maximum number of grafts that can be extracted from my donor area without depleting it, and can this number of grafts achieve a satisfactory coverage of my balding area? I have been taking finasteride and minoxidil for over two years. In addition, what is the recommended number of grafts per session for hair transplantation (FUE), considering factors such as donor area availability, balding area size, and healing capacity?

Thank you for your question. You appear to be a suitable candidate for hair transplantation with the Follicular Extraction (FUE) technique. In a single session at our practice, we can harvest up to 5000 grafts from the donor area, typically located at the back of your head. These grafts can then be safely transplanted into the bald area.

For optimal visibility and to achieve more dense results, it's recommended that you shave your hair for the procedure. In your case, a single session of hair transplant seems sufficient to cover the bald area.

You may have 6000 grafts from the backside of your head, if this is going to be your first hair transplantation. But this is a huge number and it can be harvested in two sessions (4000 in the first, and then, 2000 in the second). These sessions may ideally be 9 months apart.
