I want to be hair free, electrolysis was too painful. I want to try laser but I'm too scared. Would laser work to remove hair?

Im indian, female, with somewhat light skin and dark hair. I don't have pcos. Its just a hormonal issue. Ive heard here and elsewhere horror stories of hair coming back worse. Ive been given hormone pills yasmin. Alongside that would laser work? Im depressed. Is it over for me? Is there zero hope?
