Will my skin color return to normal after PicoSure treatment for sun spots and brown spots?

Question

It’s been 5 days since having sun spots removal with Picosure Focus. Now that the scabs fell off I’m left with lighter skin underneath. My Dr says it’s the normal process and my new skin will repigmentate. I would like to know if this is correct and what would be the time frame? Really need a second opinion. Thank you

Thank you for your question.  Some pigment loss is very common with Picosure Focus. The color coming and going is totally normal. You have color in your skin and the laser gets not only the spots but also normal pigment. This goes away fully with time. Perhaps next time tell your doc this bothers you and he/she can treat you with less energy. Of course this will mean you have a less effective treatment and it likely will take more treatments to get the spots removed. Best of luck!

you need to be patient and you must use a good sunblock on the treated areas. The person treating you can use a bit less energy next time, which will make it less likely to occur. you want to wait at least 4 weeks before your next Picosure session.david berman md
