It has been my observation, over time and not necessarily a medical fact, that aggressive and repeated electrolysis of the upper lip can produce intradermal scarring that mimics smoker lines. Laser hair removal may be a better option.
Although there are not studies evaluating the use of electrolysis around areas with previous filler use, it should pose no problem. The level of treatment for electrolysis is much more superficial than the typical depper application of fillers.
Some people who have pitted scars after electrolysis see improvement over a year after the procedure. Depending on how noticable the scars are, and how deep, there are a few techniques to improve them. Usually laser resurfacing doesn't help enough if it is one ablative laser (carbon dioxide)....
My recommendation for this type of scar would be either Biafine or Scar Guard. If the area pigments then I would recommend something with hydoquinone ond/or kojic acid. It would also be best to return to the physician or pracitioner who performed the electorlysis to evaluate the areas. Good luck...
With advancements in laser hair removal, most hair types can be treated with laser and thus electrolysis has lost popularity. Electrolysis does have application in patients with residual hair after laser hair removal, blond hair, red hair, or white hair.
