Very sharp shooting pain since I got my second tray. What should I do?

I have very sharp shooting pain in one tooth! I put my second trays on last night when i had to change them! And it wasnt like this with my first set! Ever since i woke up today it hurts to touch that tooth, or go over it with my electric tooth brush! And even a little sore when i put my invisaligin back in! Do i have a cavity or is it because theyre new and my teeth are moving ? Help this hurts ! Ive tired to call my dentist but theyre closed !!!

Did the pain start after inserting the new tray? IF so, your teeth are not quite ready for the next tray, you may need to go back to the previous tray to allow gentle tooth movement to take place for more days. If the pain is due to pressure from the new tray, the pain should subside the moment you step back to the previous tray. If not you need to identify what makes the sharp pain worse. A sharp pain (that does not get better after going back to previous tray) from chewing, cold/hot or sweet food means a lot of things: dental cavity, fracture or infection (root infection or gingivitis) and require immediate attention. It is also possible that as a result of tooth movement, you develop heavy contacts between your upper and lower teeth when biting or eating. If this is the case, you need to avoid clenching your teeth and biting hard. Keep your teeth apart with lips closed. The only time your teeth should meet is when your are swallowing or chewing otherwise, keep them apart to allow healing. You will surely get better.get well soon.dr moldez

During orthodontic treatment there is a constant force applied in order to facilitate the tooth movement.  During this stage, the tray may be placing more force to move that tooth which can cause soreness to touch.  If you are majorly concerned bring this up to your orthodontist.  If it seems to get better in a few days then it is most likely a part of the process.
