I am 5'4 and weigh 147. Can I go from a 34g-h to a c cup?
Answer: How long does bcbs of Massachusetts take to approve a breast reduction? Thank you for the question. Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for breast reduction surgery is one who presents with relatively large breasts in proportion to the remainder of her torso. These patients often present with neck, back, shoulder discomfort, bra strap grooving, postural changes, and occasionally with rashes/infections. This operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. It will be important that you communicate your goals clearly with your plastic surgeon and make sure that you have realistic expectations prior to proceeding with any type of surgery. In regards to breast size desired, also communicate carefully. In my practice the use of goal pictures are helpful in this regard; a discussion of cup size can be confusing and imprecise. Therefore, I would not suggest that you communicate your goals and/or base your satisfaction with the outcome of surgery on achieving a specific cup size. "C cup", for example, means different things to different people and is the dependent on the bra manufacturer. I also find that the use of pictures is more helpful than the words “natural” or "proportionate” etc., which can mean different things to different people. Best wishes.

Answer: Approvals are done in 1 day to 3 day range. In my dealings with BCBS, they are very prompt in approving coverage for breast reduction. We fax the request to them and usually hear back the same day or in 1-2 days. At 5 feet 4 inches a C cup should look proportional on you, however only a face to face consultation can give you a true understanding of what you can achieve.

Answer: Mass BCBS BCBS of Massachusetts accepts the request fo rmedical necessity electronically, so in an unabigious case it can be a few days. At times they will ask for further documentation which can delay the process. Make sure you get the referrals necessary as dictated by your particular plan.
