Pinhole marks from Derma Rolling! (Photo)

Question

I've been rolling weekly with a .5mm roller for 3 weeks. I noticed after my 3Rd time that I have pin prick marks all over my skin where I passed the roller. Is this just the micro-channels caused by the rolling or have I made my skin worse?? I'm so worried that I have caused more damage to my skin.The first session I went really lightly and have applied more pressure the last 2 sessions, but I didn't press overly hard. It'seems been an hour since I finished and the redness have mostly gone down now.

This is the end result as it simulates fractional laser in that the expectation is that the holes will be filled with new collagen.I hope this helps.Stop using it for 3 months to see how it heals.I recommend physician supervised treatments.If you develop hyperpigmentation, contact me for recommendations regarding some topicals to reduce PIH.H Karamanoukian MD FACS

The holes should be temporary and due to swelling. This is especially common if you have sensitive skin or a history of rosacea. For home rolling I suggest dropping to .25 mm roller, weekly or even every 2 weeks. If you are using a .5 mm roller weekly, cumulative inflammation may be the culprit.
