Answer: Contact dermatitis to minoxidil Some people are very irritated or even truly allergic to minoxidil. Trying the propylene glycol free foam formulation is a first step. Patch testing by a dermatologist is a good second step. If not irritated or allergic to propylene glycol and not truly allergic to minxodil, some may try a mild steroid compounded in the minoxidil. If this does not help, one needs to consider stopping minoxidil altogether.

Answer: Dermatitis to minoxidil Redness after use of minoxidil is a common side effect. Serum may cause irritation of the skin, redness, dryness, itchiness and dandruff because of alchol content of minoxidil and very rarely dizziness or even heart palpitations. It would be better to consider using a lower dose/percentage. All of side effects are assumed to go away soon after stopping to use it.

Answer: Minoxidil If both versions of minoxidil produce symptoms of redness and itch then you can assume that it is the minoxidil not the holding solution that is causing the symptoms. Sometimes a lower dose might help, but usually if there is an allergy, you should probably stop the drug
