I currently have a infection at pulp of tooth on number 9 . They say those don’t actually go away with antibiotics . The tooth would need to be removed . Iam looking at getting implant. My question is that is it uncommon they want to extract tooth and do dental bone grafting even tho there is the infection in there . ? My thought is I figured they would want you to get it out clear infection then later do bone grafting . They say no. They typically can do it at time of extraction

The timing of when to perform the bone graft procedure after a tooth extraction should be left to the dentist's discretion. He/she would know best your clinical situation and why grafting needs to be done either immediately or at a delayed stage. There is no one right answer for this question as...
Clinical and radiographic studies are necessary to give an answer. Currently there are different techniques of bone filling, as well as filling materials or titanium plates, so most cases of bone loss have a solution.
No, this is not normal. But it can happen when the regenerated area does notheal properly, either by lack of postoperative care or poor suturing technique. I would recommend clinical and radiographic control to ensure that there is no infection of the regenerated area.
