Upper lip laser hair removal burn. Is this common? (Photo)

I have been getting laser hair removal for about 7-8 months now and this last session I was burned and I want to know if this is common and why it happens? Is it because of "pigmentation"? Hope someone can help me with this!

Yes, there is no interaction between the laser and the extraction. The laser only goes very shallow into the skin.

Over time, these usually get less noticeable, almost go away. This can take over a year. Yes, tanned skin is not good for laser hair removal.
