I'm sorry to hear of your problem. The photo doesn't document well what you describe. In general, IPL is extremely safe and side effects are rare. Hopefully, you had the procedure performed after evaluation by an MD. I have seen one case of disfiguring, permanent scarring in a patient who had IPL performed without physician evaluation or supervision. You should not have tanned recently and should have been on any medications that make you sensitive to the sun. Also, you should not do IPL if you have a condition that makes you sensitive to the sun such as lupus. The Lumenis is a great machine. Possibly it was not calibrated correctly or the wrong settings were used. All  physicians sometimes have poor results even when everything was done correctly. I would certainly let you physician guide you to the best steps at this point. Paradoxically, additional IPL is excellent at treating early red scars. Later, laser resurfacing can be used to smooth any contour problems.
