Do dents (atrophy) caused by steriod injections ever get better/go away?

Pigment changes take 6 months to 1 year. If repeated treatment sessions have been given it can take a lot longer. Seeing a physician is important for follow up as some scalp diseases cause dents themselves in which case the steroid injections can simply make worse. The same is true for pigment changes.Treatments are available to improve the dents, at least somewhat. This includes injections into the dent with saline (salt water) and rarely other materials as well. 

These dents are the result of constant steroid injections causing atrophy of the skin of the scalp. This can be treated by injecting fat cells into the dents to rebuild the scalp infrastructure. Hair transplants, if you need them, fix this problem nicely.
