Redness after use of minoxidil is a common side effect. Serum may cause irritation of the skin, redness, dryness, itchiness and dandruff because of alchol content of minoxidil and very rarely dizziness or even heart palpitations. It would be better to consider using a lower dose/percentage. All of side effects are assumed to go away soon after stopping to use it.
Most likely cause of irritation from minoxidil is typically the solvent that it is mixed with. The solvent typically is propylene glycol, and must be avoided. If you use a foam solution solution, then these are usually mix with isopropyl alcohol and usually cause less irritation. In summary, use foam over liquid if liquid is causing irritation. You can also Applied minoxidil with your hair slightly damp.
You have a few options here. Depending on what type of Minoxidil you're taking, there are differeing ways to apply it that will be less likely to cause the irritation. There are also some good options altogether that may be able to help your hair instead- talk to a doctor to discuss which is the best option for you.
Thank you for the post and question. what percentage Minoxidil are you using? If you are on 5% Minoxidil, try lowering it to 2% or 3% and see if that can help. If you still can not tolerate the side effects, you may want to consider PRP. Hope this helps. Best.
The irritation may be normal or may be an allergy. Be sure to discuss with your physician before changing plans. If it is irritation, options are to us the foam (which lacks propylene glycol) or to compound minoxidil in a weak corticosteroid (such as triamcinolone acetonide).
Dear mostly minoxidil liquid comes in alcohol based combination which causes irritation...try Minoxidil Foam which is water based and in most of the cases very tolerable...in case of irritation stop using it and use betamethasone lotion twice a day for few days...
If the form of minoxidil is irritating, you might switch it from liquid to foam or visa versa if that is what you are using. If that doesn't help, then you could be allergic to the minoxidil
No, it is highly unlikely any sort of lotion will help your MPB. If Minoxidil didn't work for you I would talk to a doctor about other options, Finasteride could probably help you but without knowing the full details of your situation it's hard to say.
There's some stuff out there that may give you limited results, but they should grow back over the next few months without any intervention. I'd suggest just waiting it out.
None of these are backed by solid evidence. I would suggest you invest the money you will spend on these on a consulration with a hair transplant plastic surgeon who can give you advice.
