Can dandruff cause hair loss?

Question

Today when i was applying aloe vera in my hair and massaging my hair, some of my hair fall on my neck."Is it hair loss or Is it due to dandruff?" Please tell me i am very worried after seeing my hair fall.

It is unlikely that dandruff is causing hair loss. This requires an in-person evaluation. I suggest seeing a hair loss expert now to evaluate and go over your condition and provide you information about your best treatment options. In short, yes; specially if you are susceptible to male pattern hair loss.  Dandruff is caused by irritation of your scalp and the more irritation your scalp has  (dermatitis) the more inflammatory process that goes on in your scalp, and the more scarring of your follicles occurs. To keep your hair as healthy as possible, your scalp must be as healthy as possible. If you do get dermatitis of the scalp and dandruff, coal tar  would be a good solution for it to use and your shampoo until resolved.

I would suggest making an appointment with your physician to review the exact cause of your concerns. He or she will review your concerns and examine your scalp carefully. In general, dandruff does not cause hair loss unless  it is very severe.

How many hairs? Just saying you saw some hair fall out is really vague so there's no way to really tell you what's going on with your scalp. In general hair shedding is normal as long as you can't feel a difference in your hair density, and dandruff doesn't cause hair loss.
