Is there a doctor in Alabama that will accept Medicaid?

Hello, Im a 30 year old mother. My primary doctor and i have been trying to find someone in our area that will accept medicaid and also do my breast reduction. my breast are overly large and are very heavy, i suffer from really bad back an neck pain and also my bra straps make a very bad indention on my shoulder. I would really like for some one to do my surgery. This would really make a big difference in my pain that I do have. So if anyone will please help me I will be willing to travel.

Thank you for the question. Based on your description, you seem like an excellent candidate for breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform.
Medicaid (and medicare) has been known to cover breast reduction surgery. For multiple reasons,  most plastic surgeons that I know of to not work with these organizations. I think finding a reputable plastic surgeon who will work with Medicaid will be the challenge you will face.
In regards to the outcome of the breast reduction surgery, the most important decision you make will be careful selection of your plastic surgeon. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons.
Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. ***Ask to SEE lots of examples of their work AND preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done.

Hello and thanks for your question-It can be difficult to find plastic surgeons who accept Medicaid, but you could start with finding a University hospital in your state. If there is a plastic surgery training program there, you may be able to find surgeons who will accept Medicaid.Best wishes-
