Will my punch biopsy fill in? (Photo)

I had a punch biopsy done on my cheek two weeks ago to get rid of a small mole. It has been two weeks and I still have a hole and a wound. I have been covering with a band-aid and vaseline all the time to prevent scabbing/scarring. I'm worried that I will always have a deep hole in my face. Do punch biopsies fill in? If so, how long does it take? A small round white scar is fine, but I don't want a deep red hole. Should I continue keeping it covered with vaseline? If so, for how long?
