I am african american and I had my first VI Peel on 12/20/2013. My chin and forehead have peeled already, but my cheeks still have thick black skin. The skin under looks red. It itches a lot. Should I be concerned about scarring. Can the peel cause keloid scar?

Thanks for your question. Redness is a normal reaction from the Vi peel and can last for 5-8 days. The peeling should start around day 2-3 and last for 2-4 days. The post peel protectant that comes in the kit you received contains hydrocortisone 1% and aloe vera among other healing ingredients....
Although chemical peels may be helpful in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, success often requires a combination of skin care habits, procedures and sometimes prescription medications. What is your skin care regimine? What was the post peel care? Is there any other problem...
One would have to know more information about your other skin conditions and what was specificaly done during your treatment. These questions would best be directed to the person who performed your procedures. Good luck!
