Ferritin and Iron Storage deficiency and eyelash loss?

I have found out that my Ferritin, Iron Storage, and vitamin D levels were way below average. Over the past 5 months my lashes have fallen out, but now that im taking iron supplements they have stopped shedding. My question is how long will it take for them to start growing back? I believe the shedding was telogen effluvium as my lashes would keep shedding but then grow back as lighter hairs. Please tell me they will go back to normal once my levels are back to normal!

Great question. If you have not experienced scalp hair shedding too, it's quite unlikely that your eyelash shedding is directly related to your iron and vitamin D levels. If you have it could be. It takes 4-5 months to restore.Eyelash loss is tricky. Diagnosis often has many causes. Vitamin D deficiency is not a common cause of lash alteration and if only your eyelashes are shedding - it's pretty unlikely it's directly related to iron. If you don't see steady improvement over the next 3-4 months see a dermatologist for full evaluation.

Deficiencies of Ferritin and Iron can cause hair loss and the eyebrows are often the first place where this shows up.  Correct the deficiency.
