I chipped my front teeth from excessive nail biting, should I get bonding or file them? (Photos)

I found out a couple of years ago that my front teeth are chipped because of my lifelong nail biting habit. I stopped biting my nails a year ago and now I want to get my front teeth fixed. My dentist wants to file down my front incisors but I’m afraid of shortening my teeth. Would bonding be a better alternative? I don’t want to do veneers right now due to the high cost.
