I just received my temporary veneers and they are so bulky and wide in appearance. They also lift and protrude my lips considerably. Before that I received crown lengthening and my upper lip dropped considerably, but the temporaries changed all that .The dentist made some adjustments but did not remove the bulky feel, or how they protrude my lips. I'm afraid to proceed with the veneers and I'm also thinking of getting a second opinion. Is there ever a time when a new wax should be made?
Answer: Work out the kinks before doing final restorations
The main role of the temporaries is "work out the kinks", both in the bite and the look. If you don't like the temps, you likely won't like the finals. But you might.
I would ask to see the waxup. As stated earlier, the temps should be made from THAT design, and should not feel bulky.

Answer: Bulky Temporary Veneers Can Be Corrected!
My suggestion is that you do not proceed with the permanent veneers until you are happy with the size and shape of your temporaries. The main reason for the wax-up is to allow us to give you temporaries that should give you an idea of what your permanents will look like. If you dislike them that much you need to have a conversation with your dentist and clearly communicate what you are unhappy with. This is the time changes can be made. It is worth the time and effort to get this corrected now before the permanents are placed. In the end, I'm sure that your smile will be stunning!

Answer: Bulky veneers
As the other practitioners have stated previously the wax-up should be done first to give you a very good idea how the final product will look. The temp veneers should have a very similar shape to what the final restoration should be. Make sure the look you want esthetically and functionally is what you get. Do not allow the finished product to be cemented unless you are satisfied with the veneers.

Answer: Temporary Veneers are Bulky and Wide
A true "cosmetic dentist" would have the wax-up done first, and the temporaries made from that wax-up should be VERY similar to the final veneers. You should ask the dentist for a new set of Veneers based on the wax-up for the final veneers. You should be pleased with the temporaries both in "looks" and "function" before giving the OK to proceed with the finals.

If you feel your Temps are too bulky, now is the time to talk honestly with your
dentist. The Temps permit the dentist work through the case and fine tune, the Smile. Obviously, with in certain limits. Give him/her your feed back.
