Restylane Eyelight is a hyaluronic acid filler that’s FDA-approved for under-eye hollows/tear troughs &mdash; it’s meant to fill a real groove under the eye and reduce the shadowing that makes you look tired.
That can work great if you actually have a hollow or groove under your eyes at rest. If there’s a visible dip that doesn’t disappear when you’re not smiling, then adding a bit of volume there can help soften that shadow.
But if your under-eye concern when you smile is not really a hollow, having filler there often won’t help &mdash; and in some cases it can make the area look puffy or uneven because there’s nothing “missing” to fill. A lot of people think under-eye filler fixes all under-eye issues, but it really just replaces lost volume / smooths a contour.
For someone without a clear tear trough hollow:
Botox/Dysport around the eye can soften the lines you get when you smile.
A solid retinoid (like adapalene or a prescription retinoid) can help improve fine lines and skin quality.
PRF/biostimulatory injections can be a gentler regenerative approach that improves skin thickness and texture over time.
So if your under-eye issue is mostly about motion lines when you smile, texture, or just a tired look without a real groove, filler might not be the best first step.
