Compression Garment After Facial Lipo (Smart Lipo) and Buccal Fat Pad Reduction?

Question

Last week I had submental lipo, including some thinning on outer jaw above neck & close to mouth. Plus buccal pad reduction. My compression garment helps swelling where it actually covers. It does not cover close to my mouth or the buccal pad area treated. I'll wear it till post-op checkup but think may actually be increasing swelling in uncovered areas. My doc seems of the view that it helps swelling but is not very important for final contour. Thoughts here? Opinions seem to differ.

The face is a difficult area to support and compress after surgery for obvious reasons. You are supporting the most important area which is where you had liposuction, (which is mostly to decrease the chance of a seroma). Don't worry too much about the rest. Elevate and be patient. (And listen to your surgeon and not to your friends and relatives too much). You are likely to get a quite satisfactory result, as he/she says.

It helps to have the pressure garment on but it is not essential.  Follow your plastic surgeon's recommendation.
