Can straightening teeth w/bone loss cause problems?

Question

This tooth also has bone loss. I want to straighten this tooth. Would braces, Invisalign, etc possibly loosen the tooth? My front tooth has moved outward a great deal in the past several years and I would like to have it straightened This tooth also has bone loss. I want to straighten this tooth. Hi V Davis,
Orthodontic treatment and active gum disease do not really go together. It would just make your bone loss and gum disease much worse!
 If you have bone loss, you either have active gum disease or you have had gum disease that is now under control. If the gum disease is well under control, you can start orthodontic treatment. You need to maintain your oral hygiene and do your cleaning appointments on a routine basis (the frequency of those appointments will be determined by your dentist).
If you have an active gum disease, the disease needs to be controlled first and once it is under control, the  you can start your orthodontic treatment. 
The first thing you could do is talk to your dentist and find out if you have any ongoing gum disease (also known as periodontal disease). If the answer is no, then you can schedule an initial consult with an orthodontist.
