Am I a candidate for cheek filler? (photos)

Question

Hello there. I have an appointment scheduled in 2 weeks to have my nasolabial folds filled. However, after reading some earlier comments about this I am now wanting to have my cheeks filled first instead. Would this be a better option? Thanks in advance

I would agree with you and I would recommend adding volume to your cheeks instead of your nasolabial folds directly.  Filling your cheeks will improve the naslabial folds by producing some lift in that area.  I think it is very possible that just filling your cheeks will give you enough improvement so that nothing would need to be done directly to the nasolabial folds.

Facial sculpting and contouring can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Countour, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Fat or implants are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for your question.  I think your analysis is quite good.  A cheek filler utilizing either a commercial filler or your own fat, in the area of your cheek between the nasolabial folds and the lower eyelids would make a nice improvement.  We typically lose volume in this area of the face as we age and restoration of this area would make a greater improvement of your appearance rather than just the nasolabial folds.  Good luck!
