I got a brow transplant in 2021, Sept, 8. It’s was a hair transplant place in Chicago and I paid 5k for it. It is now 2022, August. I’ve developed these bumps where the transplanted hair was placed. I cried finding out that there was no way to get my smooth skin back, other than dermabrasion or skin resurfacing lasers. (Which I heard are bad for people with dark skin) I met with a dermatologist and they gave me a steroid cream, I have doubt it will work. What should I do?

I understand how upsetting it must be to deal with the bumps, or cobblestoning, that can sometimes occur after a brow transplant. This happens when the grafted hairs heal in a raised manner, creating an uneven texture. While it’s true that traditional options like dermabrasion or laser resurfacing can be risky for darker skin due to potential pigmentation issues, there are still ways to address this.
In some cases, steroid creams or injections can help reduce inflammation and flatten the bumps, so it's worth giving the steroid cream a try for a while. If that doesn’t give the results you're looking for, you could explore microneedling, which can help smooth out the texture without the same risks as lasers or dermabrasion for darker skin tones. Steroid injections combined with microneedling can sometimes provide better results.
It’s important to continue working closely with a dermatologist who understands your skin type and can guide you through the safest options for your case. There may be non-invasive ways to improve the appearance without compromising your skin’s health.
