Can you get both braces put in at the same time if you have an overbite?

I'm getting braces next month and I have a pretty bad overbite. I really want to get both braces on at the same time (top and bottom) can I get them both at the same time? would I need rubber bands for my overbite?

The good news is that you can have braces put on both arches at the same time so that movement can begin.  However, because of the depth of the bite, you may find that your top teeth may hit the braces on the bottom, making it quite uncomfortable and leaving you at a greater risk for breaking off the braces.To solve that issue, the orthodontist may put some temporary filling material on the inside of your upper teeth or on the biting surface of your molars to prevent you from overclosing.  This does take some time to get used to, but you will be able to eat properly with time.Good luck!
