Hi, I am 22 years old , i have been taking a microdermabrasion treatment for an past 3 years. I noticed a mild white spot on my face. I just want to know whether this occurred due to continuous treatment taken or treatment was not suitable for dark skin. I think this may be a post inflammatory hypopigmentation. Is microdermabration cause hypopigmentation. Then How do i get rid of that. Anyone please help me..

Answer: Microdem concerns Thank you for your question, It would be difficult to determine without knowing the exact procedure performed. Microdermabrasion is a very superficial treatment that improves the overall appearance of skin with very little risks for scarring. Hypopigmentation/hyperpigmentation can result from a number of factors. I recommend seeing a provider who specializes in skin aesthetics to address concerns and get a proper evaluation. Microneedling/chemical peels can benefit those effected and can be done safely on most skin types when the proper precautions are followed. Best, Joseph Franzese, M.D.
