it appears you are in need of a root canal. The lingering pain to cold is almost always a five away. A normal response to cold is more of an initial shock and the. Relief relatively quickly.  There also appears to be a very large cavity (caries) on the upper left tooth. If that is the tooth you are referring too then Yes you will need a root canal before the crown is done. Hope this helps
