Trauma to my front right tooth resulted in death and root canal. Porcelain crown (metal up half the tooth- NOT to gum-line) placed six years ago. Gum-line is dark, and tissues above tooth seem to be gray (possibly because root is dead and dark?). Possible theory is margin may be too short for crown. Tooth was internally bleached so not sure why gums appear gray. Please give advice on how to get this corrected, it's embarrassing, especially for someone entering the dental field in the future. :(

You have a great question. All-Porcelain crowns in my opinion are the best esthetic choice for front teeth. I particularly like the Emax crowns as they are very lifelike. However, if your tooth darkens over the years from the root canal it can alter the shade and make it darker. Another choice...
Hi:Most likely the color can be fixed. It’s best not to let the crown stay in your mouth for too long before it is removed and the color is corrected.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Hi:
Since temporary crowns are not completely sealed, it is normal to have temperature sensitivity with them. In addition, its best not to chew on a temporary crown until the final restoration has been placed. Make sure your bite is ok on the temporary as well.
