What is causing my gum-line and above surrounding tissue to be gray above my crown, and how do I go about fixing it? (Photos)

Trauma to my front right tooth resulted in death and root canal. Porcelain crown (metal up half the tooth- NOT to gum-line) placed six years ago. Gum-line is dark, and tissues above tooth seem to be gray (possibly because root is dead and dark?). Possible theory is margin may be too short for crown. Tooth was internally bleached so not sure why gums appear gray. Please give advice on how to get this corrected, it's embarrassing, especially for someone entering the dental field in the future. :(
