Is It Okay If Cast Moved I Bit?

Question

Hi, It's been 7 days since i had a septo-rhino, and today i noticed two things (changes) in my condition. First i can feel and see that the cast has moved a bit down (not too much) but it moved and i'm feeling some pressure on my nose from the cast, so i wanted to ask is it okay fro the cast to move down a bit and is it okay to feel some pressure on my nose (by the way cast removal days is in 3 days). I would recommend following up with your surgeon to see what he/she advises. The cast can occasionally move out of place. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.

Sometimes, as the swelling is resolving after rhinoplasty, the cast may shift slightly. Normally this is not a problem. The safest option is to contact your surgeon and have it examined to see if it needs to be adjusted or removed.

This can happen if the splint got wet or the skin is somewhat oily. You should call your surgeon's office to see if they want to check the splint. It may be close to time to take it off, but your surgeon should decide.

It is best to contact your surgeons office and discuss your concerns. If you were my patient and since you are seven days post surgery I would remove the splint now especially since you feel it has shifted. This should release the pressure of the case lying to low on the nose. Personally I remove my splints at this time frame anyway. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
