Hi Kimberley,I am sorry to hear you have had trouble seeing your orthodontist. You have two options ( I am assuming you have braces, not Invisalign):1) Continue your care with your current orthodontist. A lot of people travel during summer and miss a couple of their orthodontic appointment. Missing just a couple of appointment is usually fine. You need to call your orthodontist and ask them if they need to see you urgently or if there is anything you need to do. Your orthodontist might want you to do somethings differently, for example stop wearing your rubber bands, etc. Your orthodontist might also say that you need to see someone urgently (based on where you are in your treatment), in which case you can entertain the idea of option #22) You can transfer your care to another orthodontist (either temporarily or permanently). It is common as people sometimes move to a different state. All you need to do is call your orthodontist and ask them to fill out your transfer form. Then you can look for an orthodontist in your area and have your old orthodontist email or fax everything to them. They will be able to take over and continue your treatment. Your old orthodontist will write everything in your transfer forms so the new doctor will have all the important informationIt is important to maintain your oral hygiene and be careful about what you eat! It is best if you do not break any brackets at this time.Best of luck and keep us posted!Dr Sepi TorkaniSmile orthodontic
