Minoxidil is effective when used as directed for about 60% of patients. In order to see the full and lasting effects of minoxidil, it should be used as directed (twice daily) everyday. If you don’t regularly use minoxidil or discontinue it once you see results, your hair loss may return. Minoxidil is a treatment for hair loss but not a cure. Also, keep in mind that minoxidil is most effective at treating recent hair loss (where the follicle has not yet died off). It is also effective at maintaining your current hair and preventing future hair loss. If you have more progressed hair loss, you may need to take a more aggressive approach to see results. I suggest you meet with a hair transplant surgeon who specializes in the medical management of hair loss.
