Taking spironolactone with benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 regimen . If I stop taking spironolactone after 6 months , will my acne come back if I’m On the benzoyl Peroxide regimen forever ?

Thanks for your question.  There is really no way to guarantee your outcome after stopping spironolactone.  Many people do just great with topicals only, and some need to take the spironolactone for a very long period of time.  If you are not planning on pregnancy any time soon and are tolerating the spironolactone well, you should talk to your dermatologist about maybe just staying on it long term.  It might be helpful to add a topical retinoid, such as tretinoin or adapalene, so also ask your dermatologist about the best topical regimen they would recommend to keep things as clear as possible. Hello and thank you for your question. Treatment would depend on the types/causes of acne you are experiencing. Since there is not cure for acne, it is possible that your acne can recur once you stop taking medications. I would recommend a consultation by a board certified dermatologist for evaluation of your skin and discussion of appropriate treatment. Best of luck.
