Dear breastreduction101,iIf you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Breast reduction surgery reduces the amount of breast tissue and skin. Therefore, it usually only affects the cup size (C to B) and does not usually change the chest size (36 to 34).
but make sure your surgeon can do your procedure with different techniques as a vertical reduction may be adequate over the traditional anchor reduction (more scars) as there are some surgeons (believe it or not) that only do reductions one way and one way only. I call them dinosaurs.
Hello and thanks for your questions. You can most definitely reduce your breast size from a C to a B. However, without body contouring/liposuction, you will not be able to decrease your chest circumference from a 36 to a 34.I would encourage you to schedule a consultation and discuss your breast enhancement treatment options with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), who is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), and also a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) demonstrating their commitment to cosmetic surgery and excellence in surgery. Assure that they have multiple before and after photos of results that you like so that you can have an informed discussion about your breast reduction/body contouring procedure and possible results.Best wishes!Daniel Brown, MD, FACS Diplomate, American Board of Plastic Surgeons MemberAmerican Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons MemberAmerican Society of Plastic Surgeons Real Self Top 50
Yes, a C cup can be reduced down to the B cup range in most breast reduction candidates. Whether that would meet insurance criteria is another matter, as insurance companies have stringent criteria for how much tissue needs to be removed to qualify. The 36/34 measurement may not change as it is related to your chest wall circumference but absolutely, a B cup target is appropriate and quite common for many patients seeking reduction. Go on some consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons who specialize in breast surgery!
Reducing your breasts from a C to a B should be possible. It's difficult to predict the exact bra size. You should try to focus more on reducing your breasts to the size you desire. The most important thing is to communicate your desired size to your plastic surgeon, but not necessarily by the bra size. A 34B to you may be something different from what your surgeon or another woman thinks is a 34B. Photos of desired breast size are often helpful.
Thank you for the question. Yes, what you are describing can certainly be done. Ultimately, careful selection of plastic surgeon and careful communication of goals will be key. Before undergoing the breast reduction procedure it will be very important to communicate your size goals with your surgeon (who you should choose very carefully). Most patients wish to achieve enough of a reduction to help with their symptoms while remaining proportionate with the remainder of their torso. With the goal of improving communication with my patients I find the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural or proportionate” or “B cup” means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Once you have communicated your goals carefully, your plastic surgeon will be able to provide you with an estimation of how much tissue will need to be removed, in order to achieve your desired outcome.Best wishes with your breast reduction procedure; hopefully you will be very pleased with the outcome of the procedure performed.
You need to post some photos to be able to get an informed opinion. Bra sizes are a poor way of being able to predict results and best to look through examples of pre and post op results with your PS to get an idea of what can be achieved.
The simple answer is YES your cup size can be reduced with surgery! So go on some complimentary consultations with experts and become informed about the desired procedure Dr Corbin
Yes, it is possible to reduce a C cup breast down to a B cup. However your circumference of 36 inches will not change. This is because this bra measurement is made below the breasts, not at the level of the breast. So, it is possible to go from a 36 C cup to a 36 B cup. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
Thank you for your question. Please call your plastic surgeon's office immediately and let them know the change. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. The liposuction to your back may cause you some discomfort in this area, but not to the extent that you will not be able to lay on your back. Many patients will have liposuction combined with breast reduction surgery. The swelling will be worse, but...
It is common for the breast reduction incisions to separate like this. In most cases, washing the open wounds with soap and water daily and covering them with a non-stick dressing such as adaptic or Vaseline gauze is all that is needed. If there is excess drainage and/or redness around the open...
