If I have ochronosis, will the Picoway laser help?

I read it is the most effective treatment to safely break up pigment. My concern is, what would I use between treatments against ‘rebound’ pigmentation? It can’t be HQ since thats what caused the issue in the first place. Or does this condition not need all the topicals in between like melasma does? (Spf 50 used constantly of course) History: 8 mts continuous use of HQ and when I called the doc to report the discoloration I was starting to see, he advised me to just keep going... Please, advise.

Please do meet a dermatologist who specialises in pigmentation, as ochronosis can take quite some time to manage, if at all. I have been using Picoway (I am the India KOL for the device) for managing ochronosis in skin types V/VI, with some early good results - however, this is not a regular indication, and I would recommend that you follow up with an expert in the field.

See a good dermatologist for help. 8 months continued use of HQ >3% is not great. Don't believe what you read as case studies only. Pico and nano can help - the effects of pico are marginally better than nano. Let your dermatologist guide you as to other means to control your pigmentation including TA (T. Acid), and cycle your HQ with plant extracts such as Meladerm/ Melarase etc.. chemical peels can be adjunctive treatment. No fast way to address your concerns. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim.
