How strong are veeners? A doctor said it is very thin and not strong. Would a composite bonding be stronger?

If your dentist thinks your teeth need root canals, I would guess that your teeth either have very large fillings that are near the nerve or very deep decay near the nerve. If this is the case, then placing veneers or bonding on these teeth would most likely fail.  Veneers are usually only placed on the front surface of the tooth, not on the inside  surface.   If the inside surface is also in need of repair, then crowns would probably be a better choice to restore your teeth.
