How to get more definition of the face - fillers, fat removal, alternatives? (photos)

This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. Buccal fat pad gives slimming not symmetry. Masseter botox will make you slimmer and make the jawline more loose. Fillers help give shaping and contouring. If you want perfect or close to perfect symmetry you need maxillofacial surgery or implants customized. I suggest seeing an expert to go through all options. Most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus8 or PiXel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done. For facial slimming a combination of treatments are always needed. Options include: 1. Buccal fat pad removal to reduce fat on the lower face 2. Factite or Renuvion/J Plasma to tighten the lower face, jawline, and chin to reduce fat and give the jawline and neck tightening and shaping. 3. Botox to the masseter to reduce the muscular size of the jaw giving the face an illusion of being more slender 4. An experienced plastic surgeon or injector will be able to help guide you to some solutions that would achieve your goals. No part of the face should be evaluated in isolation (i.e. the chin has relations to the rest of your face).
That being said, chin filler can help to rebalance the facial relationships. If done properly, it should not make a face appear wider from the front.
Cheek augmentation with filler is a common way to more clearly define the cheek bones and can help with achieving a more 'heart-shaped face'. Any type of fat removal to achieve those goals would likely be along the lines of buccal fat pad reduction. This is not for everyone. You should be evaluated by an experienced plastic surgeon, who can guide you through a possible combination of treatments that gets you to your goals.

Hi and thank you for your question! I highly recommend consulting an experienced non-surgical cosmetic doctor as there are many treatment options that can greatly help. Doing fillers in chin as well as jawline can certainly help. Also doing fillers in mid and upper face (cheeks and temples) can help with creating more of a heart-shaped face. To help with making the jaw slimmer, you can also considered jaw slimming with Botox injection in the masseter muscles that can greatly help. As you can see, there are many options. An in person examination and discussion of your concerns would be the most helpful information, or at least some photographs. Based on your description, it sounds like you could use added volume to your face. For the cheeks, this usually takes the form of fillers or fat grafting, depending on the severity, your goals, and how much of a procedure you'd like to undergo. For your chin, the same is true with the additional potential of a chin implant if you have a severely recessed chin. Sometimes the subtraction of volume in other places is helpful, though buccal fat pad removal or submental liposuction, for example. Find a plastic surgeon you like and make an appointment to be seen in person!

First, an HD front-face and a profile photo would have been extremely helpful. However, generally speaking, for those of us in cosmetic dermatology, the use of various HA fillers to volumize flattened, volume deficited cheeks; straightening and defining the jawline and diminishing jawline jowls; and improving chin shape and projection in order to harmonize chin projection with those of the lips and nose in profile, fillers are routine part of our daily professional lives and hence and used for so many patients with these issues with very gratifying results. In general, each treatment area may require a different HA filler whose properties are appropriate to the specific site. So, one type of filler does not usually fit all, and simple fillers, like plain Restylane or ordinary Juvederm (most often offered by novice, inexperienced injectors) do not function well nor last long when used for lifting or volumizing purposes. So, when vetting your doctor, if told that one ordinary filler will do the job for all these areas, and/or procedures are charged "by the syringe," it might be wise to look elsewhere for an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Hello! Thank you for your question. Filler would do a great job in achieving the heart shape you're looking for. In our office we use Voluma for these areas. Lifting the cheeks would be helpful to contour your face. We would recommend 1 syringe of Voluma per cheek. We may also use Voluma for the jawline, 1-2 syringes for this area as well. Good Morning! Fillers can be a great option to improve facial contour, volume, and harmony. As you know, they don't last more than 12 months so upkeep is necessary and multiple syringes may be needed to get a substantial result. As for the chin, a product like Radiesse works well to stimulate collagen. It can be placed to create narrowness on the front view. To create more of a heart-shaped face, adding volume to the cheeks, especially on the sides, can help quite a bit. More firm products like Lyft or Voluma are my go-to. If you're looking for lasting changes, facial implants provide long-term results. Best of luck!

Yes chin filler an cheek filler would elongate your face. I would recommend Radiesse but make sure you see an expert injector a board certified plastic or dermatologist for best results.
