Does zoom whitening damage teeth enamel, bone, or gums? Aftercare?

Zoom is a great professional product, use by lots of dentist as a professional teeth whitening option.  As any other whitening, it is a chemical, it must be supervised and not OVER DONE.  When professionally done the results are great.  If you have periodontal disease, the disease must be stable before whitening is done.

Zoom whitening does not damage your enamel, bone, or gums when properly used by dental personnel. I am not a great fan of Zoom since I have not found it works better than a product called Opalescence which is not light activated. I have found that I get more sensitivity with Zoom than the Opalescence product. If you have receding gums be aware that you may experience more sensitivity with whitening in general. If you have controlled periodontal disease, it should be no problem to whiten your teeth. Hope this helps.

When done properly, Zoom whitening is a great way to whiten the teeth. There is no damage to the teeth as long as it is not done multiple times per year. We recommend Zoom followed up with home whitening on a quarterly basis. That being said, I would advise you to take care of any periodontal issues first to ensure good long term health.
