I always place goggles on my patient whenever they are having the zoom light used. It is safe for the teeth, but the light is very bright and with repeated exposure can cause problems with the eyes.
The answer is avoid smoking for as long as you want your teeth to remain white. Smoking is a sure way to discolor them, as well as being detrimental to your overall health. It is not easy to quit smoking, but if you want white teeth, this should give you good reason.
