I went to a dermatologist to inquire about lip fillers, and he said I should get lip filler guided by ultrasound and recommended me to a guy on the Gold Coast. I just want to know if it’s possible. I know I have lots of scarring, he is planning to numb the whole area and do something to loosen the scar tissue and then do filler.

Hello, After treating all ages of cleft lip and palate patients, the one thing I’ve seen is that lip fillers can cause more problems than helping. Dermatologist have only limited tools to address the face, and they don’t know the complexities and do not have the surgical experience to know what would best help in this situation. Commonly patients and dermatologists will try to fill the lip in the areas of scar. Filler cannot fill scar tissue and will only fill the areas around the scar making the indent of the scar worse. 
So what typically solves this problem is doing a revision of the cleft lip scar and injecting fat grafts harvested from the legs or abdomen to fill what needs volume. Quite frequently the muscle for the lip is not in the ideal location which can cause the lip to look flat or retracted. 
The best solution is to seek out a plastic surgeon who does a lot of cleft lip surgery. They will help guide you to the best options. Good luck on your journey.
