After brushing the gum appears white - ish in colour, could this be a sign I'm brushing to hard? Sorry about the blurry photo but you can see a little black line above the tooth.
Answer: Crown Gum-Line Discoloration Thank you for your question. It's very difficult to ascertain the specific etiology from the photograph alone without a thorough dental exam and proper intra-oral / radiographic imaging. Discoloration from your crown around the gum margins can be caused by several different factors. The material under the crown (often if it's metal) can cast a darker effect over time with the margins (or borders), dental decay under the crown could also be a contributing source as well revealing a "darker" effect. It is possible to have some gingival recession attributable to abrasion and/or bruxism tendencies (grinding and clenching habits) with your bite.Your local cosmetic dentist should be able to determine the proper cause and steps to reassure you on correction with a proper exam. It is important to make sure you are following up with timely hygiene recalls (at least every six months) and dental exams to ensure no infection and/or dental caries are present as well as assessing proper seating and cementation of your crown(s) along with your gum and bone levels for optimal oral health.

Answer: Dark line around gum It looks to me like you are seeing the metal substructure of the crown show thru your gums. It could be due to recession in the gums. A cosmetic dentist in your town can properly evaluate this and possible recommend corrective treatment.

Answer: Gap under crown working off the photo, It appears that you are indeed getting some gum recession.this can also be accompanied by decay so its prudent that you have it checked outsoon. Your tooth next to it appears to have gum recession as well. It maybe a result of brushing too hard but I dont see it on the other teeth in the photo. The crowns look a little bulky which may have indirectly caused the gum topull away from them. I would just have them both replaced and monitor yourbrushing technique

Answer: GET NEW CROWNS those crowns , seem to be old, and there is receding gums, but also you will need to change those crowns ,there is no other way to correct this.when you have crowns that do not fit, the most important thing its to change them as soon as possible, because this line you see might be decay under the crown.plan to change for a new smile.
