Bridge of nose is wider and flatter after Rhinoplasty. Why is this? How can I fix this? 5 months post op. (photos)

You are still early in your recovery period and the nose is expected to be quite swollen at this point.The swelling during this time is rarely symmetric. One side will always resolve more quickly than the other. The majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 months, and will continue to resolve as your nose heals for up to 1-2 years. You have not reached your final shape as the nose will continue to heal and reduce in size for up to a year. Once it does reach its final shape you may be more pleased with the appearance of your nose.

Thank you for your question. You are still in the timeframe of post-op swelling that is common with a Rhinoplasty. This could account for what you are seeing. I would try to be patient as swelling can be present for 6 months up to a year post surgery.

While none of us should be giving advice without knowing exactly what was done, it is true that edema will persist for up to one year in patients with thinner skin such as you appear to have.  Having said that, just some a general thought.  Think of the nose as a tunnel.  As you reduce the hump on the tunnel the nasal bones become progressively wider as you move closer to your face.  An accommodation for this increased width must be planned into the procedure.

Hi,Thank you for including your photos. Your nose is still swollen from surgery and you will likely have some level of improvement in the ensuing weeks. If the bridge of your nose remains wide and flat, that may be due to inadequate inward displacement of the nasal bones during surgery. Correcting it will require controlled fractures of the nasal bones (very short procedure). Close follow up with your surgeon will ensure the best possible results.Best,
