Breast Implant Palpability Visibility Normal? (photo)

Question

I am 4 mos post verticle lift with 400cc silicone implants . I can feel and see my implant in the bottom of my left breast and the skin on this breast generally feels more loose than the right. The right breast feels a bit tighter and it's a tiny bit higher. I can feel implant in left a lot more when i am laying down. Would lifting the left a bit more to tighten up the skin make this less noticeable and more like the right? Is this visibility of the implant fold going to be a problem?

The lower an outside portion of the breast implant is covered by the least amount of soft tissue. Visible are palpable contour irregularities are most commonly seen there. Whether they were treatment is a decision to be made between the surgeon and the patient.

hi, normally when you do a lift with vertical incisión you do a skin bra in the lower pole of the breast, with this and a good amount of breast tissue the implant wont be palpable. talk with your PS so he can provide you with the best plan for your safety and happiness. to avoid palpable implant it needs to be covered completely by your own tissue.

Although the answer is not simple nor inexpensive, there are some things that can be done. Certainly revising the lift may be of benefit and the other thing to consider when discussing your problem with your plastic surgeon is the use of Strattice or alloderm to increase the lower pole thickness. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Good luck.

The weight of the implant pushes down by gravity and thins the tissue of the lower pole of the breast. Almost every patient who has a mastopexy / augmentation will have some palpability of the implant. It is possible that this could be improved with a minor revision.

Being able to feel the implant is perfectly normal. There is not much tissue between the implant and the bottom or lateral aspects of the breasts. As far as your question about lifting the breast, that can best be answered in person by your plastic surgeon or get a second opinion from a board-certified plastic surgeon.
