Molar with root canal, buildup/post, crown. Crown was not sealed good to tooth, coffee and bacteria got inside and crown came off pulling out buildup/post. The molar now looks like a volcano with rim of tooth enamel above the gum line (see 2 pics). Dentist did not want to do a bridge, due to molar in front having a crown, so planed for an implant. Tooth is fine otherwise with no infection. Had grinding in past, so worried could break an implant. Can crown be put back on with new post/buildup?

Any time you can be more conservative and place a partial restoration its better. I make them all day on my Cerec Primescan. Ultimately it is up to the dentist treating you to make the final decision.
