Going to a trade show 2 weeks after BA Purse or Backpack?

Hello,You may want to opt for a rolling suitcase/bag. I advise my patients not to lift more than 10 pounds until about 6 weeks post op. How you use your arms to push/lift/pull will be a concern. I recommend that you talk this over with your Plastic Surgeon in order to come up with safe ways to go about your activities.All the best

Hi, I think you would be more comfortable avoiding any bag or backpack with a strap that rubs across your breasts.  I'd suggest showing them to your PS or at least picking the one that is less likely to rub the chest area.

Hi Zpolk, I ask my patients to not carry anything 15lbs or more for 5 weeks post surgery. If you have a small purse, I would prefer that to that a back pack which can pull on your muscles. This could potentially disrupt the position of the implants and make you asymmetric or worse, split your incision Hope this helps,Best, Dr. Christine Rodgers

Thanks for your question. I hope your surgery went well. The backpack will probably allow you to distribute the weight you are carrying more easily. Hopefully you can drop things off at your room during the day so it doesn't get too heavy. Best of Luck!

Any surgeon will counsel you to limit lifting post surgery.  One option would be a rolling bag.  Avoid direct weight on your chest and let gravity work for you. 

Thanks for your question and good to know you are worried about excess weight limits after surgery.   While they don't always look cool, I would recommend a bag with wheels on it.   Also recommend (if possible) return to your hotel room to drop off items during break time.  I might also suggest seeing if people can email you their content rather than handing you hard copies.  Finally, if you are set on a purse consider a backpack or cross body.  Cheers and best wishes!Steven Camp MD#HappyCamperMD

Dear Zpolk,I would probably opt for a cross body messenger style bag because you won't have to keep putting it on and taking it off to add brochures like you would a backpack. You might want to unload your bag in your room if it starts getting heavy to keep everything on the lighter side, and switch it from side to side throughout the day.Pack light, check your bag, and consider wearing a sling on your dominant arm (because of "shoulder surgery") so you look helpless and some kind person will grab your rolling bag off of the carousel for you. Maybe a friend or loved one can meet you at baggage claim to pick you up and grab your bag when you return.Sometimes something weird can happen when you change altitude where you develop a little vibratory squeaking sensation when your implant moves or slides. It is not at all dangerous but can completely freak people out if they are not expecting it. Best of luck!Sfolk :)
