as you can see in this picture my front teeth are much longer than the others, they are wider too and just stand out a lot. I also have a gap in the middle. What it the best treatment for this that would not damage my teeth? What would be a tyical cost?

It looks to me that your best options for your smile is to see a orthodontist who can do Invisalign for you.  It is the clear braces and will torque and tweek your smile so that things are more balanced.  Once you have completed your treatment if you still feel the front teeth are too big then you can reshape them.  It is worth the cost and effort-Talk about a payment plan so it is affordable to you.
