How to reduce swelling after laser session

Question

I was given laser session again after 2 days because hair on my upper lip was not removed.I have thick and hard growth on my upperlip. I still can see hair burnt and beneath my skin.My skin is red and swollen.I can see abscess and transparent fluid is also coming out.Shall I contact my doctor or is it normal to have such symptoms after laser.

Here are some addtitional suggestions to reduce facial swelling:
Continued head elevation - sleep in recliner chair for up to the first week
Icing - not directly on skin, 20 min on then 20 min off if comfortable for the first 3 days
Low Salt diet
No heavy lifting, bending over or intense exercis

Thank you for your question. Your laser technician should not have done a second treatment 2 days after your first. Your hair will not be removed immediately after the first treatment. It is normal to see the hair come to the surface over the next week and fall out, you can also expect to have new hair grown coming up between sessions. Normal laser hair removal takes between 5 to 10 treatments. It sounds like you may have a burn on the upper lip from over treating the area.
