If the metal is exposed you will be ok, however aesthetically is not pleasing. Check with your dentist or a dentist near you.
It is hard to tell from this photo, but it may be a porcelain fused to metal crown (PFM). sometimes, the porcelain on the chewing area gets thin or chipped, exposing the metal frame. This isn't a hole and presents no clinical problems. The only issue would be the "look" of the crown, but it should function just fine and have zero risk for decay/cavities in that spot.
